Modular services and off-site pre-fabrication substantially reduced the on-site installation time enabling us to meet the challenging 24/7 construction programme.Comprising two data halls over two floors and 2,224 sq m of customer space, high-efficiency cooling towers, heat recovery units and PIR-controlled lighting help reduce energy consumption and enhance this data centre’s eco credentials.
Phase 1 comprises all main internal and external plant areas, fit-out of the 1st floor data hall, plus all offices. Phase 2 consists of the fit-out of the ground floor data hall, associated UPS and battery rooms, plus additional central plant not provided under phase 1. The data centre operates 24/7/365.
Designed as a Tier 3 data centre, the project delivers high levels of resilience and redundancy to ensure critical systems are always available. It provides 3.5MW of new capacity, strengthening the client’s position in the North West and supporting its customers with extra capacity in constrained markets. The new data centre adds 3.5MW of customer capacity, with the first phase delivering 1.8MW at 1.5kW per sq m on average.
Telecity Data Centre, Stockholm
Client: Telecity Group
Value: £20 million
Main Contractor: Rotary Building Services
As principal contractor Rotary Building Services delivered this new three-storey data centre for Europe’s leading provider of
premium carrier-neutral data centres. It increased their total data capacity in Stockholm to 8MW covering 5000m2 of floor space.
The facility comprises two floors of data hall and a ground-level plant room which services the building. Externally, a three-tier plant room now houses all mechanical plant and equipment, and the electrical support generators.
Phases 4 and 5 are an extension to 3 existing phases of data centre located in Skondal near Stockholm. It is a three-storey building constructed within the footprint of the existing site boundary on an area previously utilized for car parking and materials storage.
It consists of two main data halls to floors 1 and 2 with the ground floor being predominantly used for main electrical and mechanical plant. An external three-storey ‘Plant Deck’ has been erected to house back up generators and mechanical and electrical plant.
Phase 4 consists of all the main internal and external plant and fit-out installations required to operate the second floor data hall with the 1st floor area being left fallow. Also included in the phase 4 works are the ancillary works associated with the phase 5 data hall. These works ensured that a smooth phase 5 installation progressed and phase 4 data hall operated normally.
Phase 5 consists of the fit-out of the first floor data hall, associated UPS and battery rooms, plus additional central plant not provided under phase 4. The data centre operates 24/7/365.
Designed as a Tier 3 data centre, Stockholm 2 delivers high levels of resilience and redundancy to ensure critical systems are always available. It provides 2.5MW of new data hall capacity, strengthening Telecity’s position in the region. TelecityGroup aims to support its customers by increasing capacity in constrained markets.
