In February 2016 and after the successful completion of the Base Build, Rotary Building Services were awarded the prestigious contract for the M&E fit out of the Amazon Fulfilment Centre at Airport City, Manchester Airport with McLaren Construction.
These significant works included the fit out of approx 80,000m2 of four-storey warehouse, as well as a 5000m2 new build office block, multi-storey car park, remote hub incorporating driver facilities, 500 cover kitchen and restaurant, large external plant zone and a series of rooftop plant areas housing air handling units and associated equipment.
This exciting project incorporated innovative technologies such as KIVA robots and complex material handling equipment and despite extremely demanding programme constraints, we were delighted to have delivered all 13 early access dates and achieved PC one month ahead of schedule on 15 September 2016.
Having secured the project in February at c.£8m and works commenced on site in late April, we accelerated both the offices and warehouse areas and incorporated almost £4m of additional work taking the overall M&E value to c.£12m, all delivered in 21 weeks and exceeding the clients expectations.
“Rotary approached this challenging project with a positive and professional attitude. The sectional milestones were achieved within programme and client requests for acceleration were also met. The site team were accommodating throughout the job and very knowledgeable”
